In September of each year the Monarch butterflies pass through Oklahoma on their way to Mexico for the winter months. Thousands come by and it is really something to see. Like migratory birds, the butterflies somehow know the way there and how to fly north in the Spring.
ADULTS
 Male Monarch: Notice the thin vein pigmentation and swollen pouches on the hindwings.
Female Monarch: Notice the thick vein pigmentation and no hindwing pouches.
