IS IT TRUE WHERE YOU LIVE????? V 2.0

ASK FATHER: Salvation for divorced and remarried? | Fr. Z's Blog
Maybe things are different here. Maybe not. Due to a number of different circumstances, I am encountering something rather strange. Here is my observation: (I will try and sort this out--later.)

A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF MARRIAGES ARE ENDING IN DIVORCE WITH ONE OR BOTH OF THE EXs RETURNING TO EARLIER GIRFRIENDS/BOYFRIENDS AND QUICKLY REMARRYING.

 V.2 THERE IS A LOT OF ADJUSTING THAT MUST TAKE PLACE. ONE WOMEN WE KNOW DIVORCED AND IMMEDIATELY MARRIED AN OLD HIGH SCHOOL BOYFRIEND. HER THREE SMALL KIDS AND HIS 15 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER ARE LEARNING TO GET ALONG! HELLO BRADY BUNCH!

DOUBLE-PARKED DOUBLE-WIDE !!!!!

I THOUGHT GOV. CHRISTIE WAS THE ONLY DOUBLE-WIDE GOVERNOR IN THE U.S.!!!! NOT SO---NOT SO!!!!

Earlier this year, news helicopters revealed that Fallin’s (Our OK Gov.)28-year-old daughter, Christina, a musician and tattoo makeup artist, had parked her mobile home on the grounds of the governor’s mansion in Oklahoma City and was plugged into the building’s electrical power. Fallin’s political opponents filed an ethics complaint in November.
“It sends a stereotypical ‘We’re a bunch of dumb Okie hicks kind of image,” Shapard said.

"RACIST" IS NOT A WORD WE USE LIGHTLY IN AMERICA

I FIND THE FOLLOWING URL VERY OFFENSIVE. MY DIFFERENCES WITH PRESIDENT OBAMA ARE MANY AND SIGNIFICANT; HOWEVER, I FIND THE USE OF THE WORD "RACIST" IS OVER THE TOP AND SHOULD BE RETRACTED. FOR BETTER OR FOR WORSE MR. OBAMA IS OUR PRESIDENT.

"IT DOES NOT MATTER" ---ELLA WILCOX

IT DOES NOT MATTER

It does not matter very much to me
    Through what strange ways my pathway now may lead;
Since I know that it runs away from thee,
    I give it little heed.
It does not matter if in calm or strife,
    There ebb or flow for me the future's tide.
I had but one great longing in my life,
    And that has been denied.
It does not matter if I stand or fall,
    Or walk with kings, or with the rank and file;
Life's loftiest aims and best ambitions all
    Were centred in thy smile.
It does not matter what the world may say:
    I feel no interest in its blame or praise.
I only know we dwell apart to-day,
    And shall through endless days.
It does not matter. For my restless heart
    Is numb to sorrow, or to pleasure's touch.
Since it must be that we two drift apart,
    Why, nothing matters much.

Yesterdays. By Ella Wheeler Wilcox.

YELLOW MEAT WATERMELON PRINCIPLE v2.0

Yellow Doll Watermelons WM20-10_Base
YELLOW MEAT WATERMELON

My first encounter with a yellow meat watermelon was in Texas. I first thought it was a joke. The locals said it was the best tasting melon on the market. I tried it and couldn't get beyond the first couple of bites. There is something strange about eating a melon that is not red.

In OK there are yellow meat watermelons but I refuse to eat one. Maybe I am too traditional, maybe too old, or maybe too smart!

My first principle of watermelon eating is to not eat any melon that looks like a lemon.

On the subset of watermelons, Jackson County melons in Indiana are very, very tasty. Likewise melons from the Rush Springs area in OK. I once saw a 60 pound melon at Rush Springs!

It is time to disregard all modesty and tell it like it is. I think I can eat more watermelon than any two adults picked at random. My late father could eat a lot, ditto a late aunt, ditto, ditto my brother in Indiana.
However, I am the champ!
In fact, one time a fellow bet me I could not eat a 25 pound watermelon. I told him I would be right back in 15 minutes. Upon my return
I then ate the 25 pounder and collected the bet. He asked me why I needed a 15 minute absence before tackling the 25 pounder. I told him I had never eaten a 25 pounder before and I went and bought me a 25 pounder and ate it to make sure I could win the bet to eat his 25 pounder!

NOW THIS IS A REAL WATERMELON

IN RESPONSE TO MANY REQUESTS....

......I AM GOING TO GIVE MY EARLY BIO ANYWAY!!!!!

I was born in a log cabin that I helped my father build. It was a frightening day when I came into the world. I remember I cried like a baby.

My Mom said it was too late to send me back. My Dad remarked that maybe they could trade me in on a newer model later.

The doctor who delivered me said he would send the carnies from the county fair by. Perhaps they would take me when they left town!

I cannot say I remember much about this part of my life. Later, my aunt told me the first words I could say was, "Step right up folks!"

When I started school I rode by myself in the short school bus. In school when we practiced nuclear attack drills the teacher said I could remain standing. Mrs. Evans, my first first grade teacher did not return after Thanksgiving break. Rumor had it she had a nervous  breakdown!

My favorite high school teacher was Mr. Bolen who taught driver's ed. After the first day he permitted me to solo and he told me to forget about using the seat belt. The newspaper reported he was too drunk to appear for my trial.

My high school grades were such I earned the first scholarship ever awarded to the Three Fingers Meat Cutter's College. A the graduation I asked the president of the TFMCC to give me five. He said, "I can't, but I'll give you three!"

I MAKE MAJOR SLEEP DISCOVERY !!!!

GLENN MAKES MAJOR SLEEP DISCOVERY !!!!

After much experimenting and beta trials, I am now announcing one of the greatest sleep discoveries of all time!

BACKGROUND: My dear wife of 53 years is in constant pain and must stay in bed most of the time. She sleeps a lot during the day and insists on watching TV in our bedroom when I go to bed at night. The sound I can handle; however, the changing light levels on the TV screen create a real problem for me. Enter the old fashion sleep mask at the top of the photo. There is nothing new here.

MAJOR DISCOVERY: I wear the full sleep mask when I go to sleep at night. Hang on boys and girls! During the day when I feel a need to catch a nap in my recliner, I use the single eye patch at the bottom of the photo. This discovery permits me to keep one eye open to be ever ready to take care of the three grand kids we are raising. Also, this permits me to readily respond to the many needs of my bed fast wife. Why this was not thought of before I can only quote Cousin Eddy, "Go figure!"

Because many of the readers of this Blog are old friends, I have turned down the late night TV infomercial contract. There is no premium on a good night's sleep or a good afternoon nap!!!! "Say goodnight Gracie." "Good night Gracie."

I ask that you refrain from e-mailing thanks or personal testimonies. Chances are I will be asleep!!!!!!  ZZZZZZZZZZZ!

And I thought I knew KY history

I confess this KY classic is new to me. I hope you enjoy the content and method of the poetry:

In Kentucky (1902)

The moonlight falls the softest
  In Kentucky;
The summer's days come oft'est
  In Kentucky;
Friendship is the strongest,
Love's fires glow the longest;
Yet, a wrong is always wrongest
  In Kentucky.

The sunshine's ever brightest
  In Kentucky;
The breezes whisper lightest
  In Kentucky;
Plain girls are the fewest,
Maidens' eyes the bluest,
Their little hearts are truest
  In Kentucky.

Life's burdens bear the lightest
  In Kentucky;
The home fires burn the brightest
  In Kentucky;
While players are the keenest,
Cards come out the meanest,
The pocket empties cleanest
  In Kentucky.

Orators are the grandest
  In Kentucky;
Officials are the blandest
  In Kentucky;
Boys are all the fliest,
Danger ever nighest,
Taxes are the highest
  In Kentucky.
The bluegrass waves the bluest
  In Kentucky;
Yet bluebloods are the fewest (?)
  In Kentucky;
Moonshine is the clearest,
By no means the dearest,
And yet, it acts the queerest,
  In Kentucky.

The dove's notes are the saddest
  In Kentucky;
The streams dance on the gladdest
  In Kentucky;
Hip pockets are the thickest,
Pistol hands the slickest,
The cylinder turns quickest
  In Kentucky.

Song birds are the sweetest
  In Kentucky;
The thoroughbreds the fleetest
  In Kentucky;
Mountains tower proudest,
Thunder peals the loudest,
The landscape is the grandest - and
Politics - the damnedest
  In Kentucky.

"In Kentucky" is perhaps the best known and most printed poem about Kentucky. It was written by Judge James Hillary Mulligan for a banquet for the members of the Kentucky legislature held 11 February 1902 at the Phoenix Hotel in Lexington. It was very well received and reprinted by three Lexington newspapers. The Lexington Leader ran the poem on its front page the next day and described the Judge's reading of his poem this way:
...At the close of an unusually brilliant and witty toast he drew from his pocket, as if drawing a deadly weapon, a dangerous-looking type-written manuscript, and, peering over his glasses with a smile of satisfaction that amounted almost to a leer, read a poem which he said he wrote himself and was willing to take responsibility of its authorship. Without excuse or apology, and with very little warning, he read the following, which was constantly interrupted by applause that burst into a grand napkin salute at its close...
The other papers agreed. The Lexington Democrat said "The judge was at his best and that means a great deal. At his worst, he is great, so the reader can imagine the feast of wit that was given to the visitors." The Morning Herald said of the banquet that "The service was so bad that much of the pleasure of the evening was spoiled and it would have been a failure had it not been for the speeches" and that Judge Mulligan "for a quarter of an hour kept the house in a continual uproar, closing with the following original poem..."
Copies were widely distributed and it was set to music, imitated ("In Virginia," for example), and parodied. John Wilson Townsend, in his 1913 Kentucky in American Letters, 1784-1912, wrote that
...it has been declaimed in the halls of Congress and gotten into the Congressional Record. It has been parodied a thousand times, reproduced in almost every newspaper in English, illustrated, and at least one Kentuckian has heard it chanted by an Englishman in the shadow of the Pyramids in Egypt! More than a million souvenir postal cards have been sold with the verses printed upon them; and had the author had In Kentucky copyrighted, he would have reaped a harvest of golden coins.
