Cummins Engine of Columbus has played a major role in my life. Consider: My father, brother, uncle and two cousins each worked 30 plus years there.
I was fortunate enough to win a scholarship to Purdue University from Cummins.
The biggest day involving Cummins happened in 1952 at the Indy 500 qualifying days. By today's standards this is hardly breaking news. Back then it was the talk of Indiana and maybe the entire racing world.
