Celebrating the Life of Cecil B. Peck

Cecil Bryan Peck, 100, of North Vernon, passed the Glory Line on Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at Jennings Healthcare Center.


Born June 10, 1915, in Lincoln County, KY, Cecil was the son of the late Isaac Thomas Peck and Nancy Carolyn "Callie" Moore Peck. He and his brother in law and lifelong friend, Coleman Frederick, graduated from McKinney High School in Kentucky as co-valedictorians. On June 29, 1940, he married Catherine Lee Frederick in McKinney, KY. She preceded him in death.


Cecil worked for the post office in Washington, D.C., and a defense plant in Cincinnati. After moving his family to Indiana in 1947, he was a farmer, a 30 year employee of Cummins Engine Company, and a leader in the Commiskey Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening, following the Cincinnati Reds and eating out with family and friends.


Survivors include his son and daughter in law, Glenn and Connie Peck of Shawnee, OK; daughter and son in law, Nancy and Daryl Burns of California, KY; son, Gary Lee Peck of North Vernon; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four sisters and five brothers.

Funeral Information

A funeral service was conducted at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, September 25, 2015, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Brother Glenn C. Peck officiated. Visitation was from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday. Burial was in  the Vernon Cemetery.

  1. IT HAS BEEN ABOUT 4 MONTHS SINCE WE LAID DAD TO REST. HARDLY A DAY GOES BY THAT I DO NOT THINK OF HIM. HE WAS VERY SPECIAL AND HE MADE ALL WHO KNEW HIM FEEL SPECIAL.

  2. I doubt my reaction to the death of a good father is not that unusual. Lately, I have dreamed about my late Dad. Even in my dreams I still learn from him. Dad, you left a mighty wide path of good living that I try to stay on.
